The Philosophy

This is a listening project dedicated to 90s hip hop mixtapes — heard the way they were meant to be heard: on cassette, front to back.

This isn’t about ranking classics or rewriting history. It’s about going back to the tapes that lived in our Walkmans, car decks, and boom boxes. The tapes that got played, rewound, flipped, and worn out.

This site exists to spend time with those tapes again. The cuts, blends, freestyles, and exclusives. Not to crown winners, but to remember what it felt like when hip hop lived on tape.
